1、Although he was only grumbling, his choice of words made Rodney angry.

2、Although they're expensive, they last forever and never go out of style.

3、Although people sometimes buy property sight unseen, it'sa remarkably bad idea.

4、Although this recipe looks long, it is actually very quick to prepare.

5、I was never really happy there, although the people were kindness itself.

6、Although the coral looks hard, it is very delicate.

During he was in Paris, he lived with his friends.

正:While he was in Paris, he lived with his friends.

正:During his stay in Paris, he lived with his friends.

He was in hospital for six weeks during the summer.

He stayed there for [during] the whole summer.

誤:He stayed there for [during] all the summer.

He lived here for ten years (for some time)。

I'll be on holiday in [during] August.

He woke up three times in [during] the night.

Many people suffered hardship during the war.

He was injured in the war.

The phone rang during the meal.

I went to see my aunt during my stay in Beijing.

In summer we often camp in the forest.

During the summer we camped in the forest.

because與because of的用法比較 篇三

I didn’t buy it because it was too expensive.

He is here because of you (that)。

He lost his job because of his age.

We said nothing about it, because of his wife’s being there.

He knew she was crying because of what he had said.

He didn’t come because of he was ill.

誤:He didn’t come because of that he was ill.

正:He didn’t come because he was ill.

正:He didn’t come because of his illness.

He left the company because of what the boss said at the meeting.

正:He left the company because of the thing that the boss said at the meeting.

I can’t stop fighting because I have a family.

正:I can’t stop fighting because of having a family.

It is because he loves you.

His absence was because of the rain.

正:His absence was due to the rain.

正:He was absent because of the rain.

It is just because of money.

That was because of his sickness.

Although/Though/Even though/Despite/In spite of/Albeit 篇四

Although, Though, Even though,

Despite, In spite of, Albeit

Although

e.g.

Although the exam was difficult, I think I did well.

=

I think I did well although the exam was difficult.

Though

e.g.

I think I did well though the exam was difficult.

Though

e.g. The exam was difficult. I think I did well, though.

Even though

e.g.

Even though the exam was easy, I failed.

1、Although正式,引導從句可前可後;

3、Even though

Despite

Despite his best efforts , the man just couldn’t succeed.

Despite being on time to the lecture , we were not admitted.

In spite of

In spite of his best efforts , the man just couldn’t succeed.

In spite of being on time to the lecture , we were not admitted.

Albeit

這也是albeit和although/though最大的區別。大家也可以簡單理解成albeit = although it may be。

She should finish the job, albeit done by you.

=

She should finish the job although it is done by you.

She appeared on the show, albeit briefly.

=

She appeared on the show although she did that briefly.

Telegraph UK

It was an amazing computer, albeit expensive.

=

It was an amazing computer although it was expensive.

The latest ships are much brighter and more contemporary, albeit with restraint.

=

The latest ships are much brighter and more contemporary although ships are with restraint.

conj.

Though [Although] they’re expensive, people buy them.

I expect you’re right—I’ll ask him, though.

She promised to phone. I heard nothing, though.

He says he’ll pay, though I don’t think he will.

正:He says he’ll pay; I don’t think he will, though.

She treats me as though I were a stranger.

He’s the best teacher even though he has the least experience.

Although [Though] (it was) built before the war, the engine is still in perfect order.

Although [Though] (he is) still young he is going very grey.

Although [Though] (she was) in pain, she bravely blinked back her tears.

Successful though [as] he is, he is not proud.

Much though [as] I like you, I couldn’t live with you.

Try though [as] I would, I could not make her change her mind.

Surrounded though [as] we were by the enemy, we managed to march forward.

Raining hard though [as] it is, I’m going out for a walk.

Expert though [as] he was, he failed.

Big puzzle though [as] it was, it hadn’t got the better of Jim.

Although he’s only an amateur, but he’s a first-class player.

正:Although he’s only an amateur, he’s a first-class player.

Though he seems happy, yet he is worried.

But I didn’t know that then, although I learned it later.

He wanted to go abroad, but although he had some money he couldn’t afford it.
