Once upon a time there was a miser1. He hid his gold under a tree. Every week he used to dig it up.
One night a robber2 stole all the gold. When the miser came again, he found nothing but an empty hole.
He was surprised, and then burst into the neighbors gathered around him.
He told them how he used to come and visit his gold.
“Did you ever take any of it out?” asked one of them. “No,” he said, “I only came to look at it.” “Then come again and look at the hole,” said the neighbor, “it will be the same as looking at the gold.”

在英语教学中，阅读教学是比较难教的部分，也是极为重要的部分，其目的是培养学生快速准确地理解和获悉外语语言的能力。在各种英语考试中，也都把阅读理解当作主要测试项目(大约占题40%)，这就要求在教学中应该注重培养学生的阅读理解技能。
英语的五大基本功包括：听、说、读、写。读包括朗读与阅读。阅读又分为泛读与精读。快速浏览，了解文章大意，找出文章所给信息点为泛读；在此基础上掌握重点单词，短语及句型。能概括文章段落大意及中心思想，能翻译文章为精读。教师在平时的教学中，既要注重培养他们的泛读能力，更应该培养他们的精读能力，注意两种能力相结合。国中教学进入八年级以后就出现了较长篇幅的文章、大量生成的词汇。科技型、说明型、议论型、人物传记型阅读文本也日益增多，而国中学生所学知识肤浅，词汇量小，分析问题也不够深入。教师在较长文章的课堂教学中也要注意整体性的把握。让文本阅读与语言应用紧密结合。目前，英语学习两级分化比较严重，我们农村的英语教学又成了国中英语教学的新问题。学生底子薄、习惯差、这就更要求农村教师在教法和对学生学习的指导上进行探索和研究。以下是我对阅读教学的一些看法：阅读前：
1.教师可适当介绍与阅读内容有关的社会、历史、人文、自然背景，特别是与我国不同的英美等西方国家的历史地理和风俗习惯资料；
2.摘要介绍部分有碍于课文理解的生词。并要求学生在阅读中如果遇到可能猜得出的生词一定要去猜测，而不要忙于查词典；
3.引导学生根据文章标题、插图和有关问题讨论并预测文章内容；
4.最后教师最好提出一两个能概括全文中心思想的指导性问题，让学生带着问题去阅读。
阅读时，可分为计时阅读，快速阅读和细节阅读。通过几个层次的阅读理解培养学生的能力，强化读取信息的意识，为巩固和运用知识打下了基础。
1.快速阅读(scan)指定的内容(用眼读而不是用嘴读，逐句读而不是逐字读);
2.提问好、中、差各层次的学生，问题要围绕中心思想(mainidea);
3.提出细节性问题，让学生获取有关what,where,when,why,who,how等基本事实以及start,process,end总体过程脉络；
4.细读：布置任务，反复阅读课文，反复思考；
5.分小组讨论问题答案，然后全班检查答案。读完后
1.鼓励学生用简略的方式表述自己对文章的见解和领会，而不是复述课文；不要纠正学生的语音、语法错误，哪怕比较严重；
2.在学生对课文理解的基础上，检查学生对生词的猜测情况，既然是猜，能沾边达意就行。
3.把语言运用到实际生活中去。围绕已学课文开展各种形式的口头交流活动。比如可以复述课文，分角色扮演，讨论某个问题，调查一个项目，采访相关人士、仿写与课文相关的话题等；也可动笔对课文进行改写，列提纲、评述等。具体根据学生的具体情况而定。
总之，教学方法多种多样，目的都是一致的，那就是以学生发展为本，促进他们的学习习惯和学习能力的提高。
